Undefeated, 12 time, five division boxing legend, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, will step back into the boxing ring against internet sensation, Logan Paul, with just one professional fight to his name to date.

If you’re unsure if the above sentence is real, we can assure you it is. The two will come together for an exhibition match Monday 7th of June, in a bout that plenty have dismissed as a money-making grab. Although a heavy mismatch between fighters, with Paul standing 6 inches above Mayweather and about 50 pounds heavier, the consensus is that he won’t stand a chance.

Mayweather is a true icon of the sport, no matter what way you look at it. The 43 year old has built a legacy and a cult-like following, but no one was expecting the champ to take a fight from a 25-year old novice, with many left scratching their heads at the announcement.

Regardless of how you feel about it as a boxing fan, it’s happening. With Mayweather the clear favourite to the surprise of no-one. 

We all know how Mayweather got to where he is, but who is Logan Paul? Paul had an interesting rise to fame, outside of the world of boxing, you’d be forgiven for never hearing the name before.

Amassing over 20 million fans across Youtube and Instagram, Paul grew to fame by sharing short form videos on Vine, and then eventually on YouTube where along with his brother, has grown to one of the most viewed single person channels on the platform with over 4.7 billion views.

Appearing in a few acting gigs along the way, Paul is more well known for the controversies he’s been involved with in recent years, where YouTube made the call to temporarily suspend the ad revenue on his videos due to a ‘pattern of behaviour’. He now hosts a podcast titled ‘Impaulsive’, which has over 2 million subscribers on YouTube.

Moving his attention to the boxing ring, alongside brother Jake who recently took the win against previous MMA contender Ben Askren, Paul faced off against another internet celebrity, KSI. Unable to get the win on two occasions with a draw, and then a loss, Paul is yet to record a professional win, which makes the upcoming match even more baffling.

Meanwhile, Mayweather has been laying low after his last fight in 2017 against MMA star Conor McGregor. Both fighters earnt a record pay day, with Mayweather walking away with $275 million, while McGregor earned $85 million.

Now, the two are set to face off in what may be the most bizarre fight we’ve seen in recent years. Will Mayweather cut it short with a quick finish that many are expecting, or will Paul pull something out of the bag?
